Valentino Rossi had some choice words for Marc Marquez, his MotoGP rival, as the dust settled after their clash in Argentina. He went so far as to say that Marquez was destroying the sport!
Rossi and Marquez have had a problematic relationship in recent years thanks to a number of controversies that taken place on the track during this time, and they came to blows once again in the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo race, which took place on Sunday.
Marquez’s late lunge at the right-hander Turn 13 in the race’s closing stages saw Rossi crash right out of the race. Although Marquez was handed a 30-second penalty for this move, Rossi did not mince his words in the aftermath, and called Marquez’s actions detrimental not only to himself, but to MotoGP as a whole.
Rossi said the situation was a very bad one, and that Marquez was destroying the sport thanks to his total lack of respect for his rivals. Rossi went on to say that, when going around a track at 300 km/hour, one has to have a certain consideration in place for ones rivals. He added that although riders needed to be strong, and had to give it their best, what Marquez was doing was contemptuous of those around him, and dangerous, as well.
Rossi stated that Marquez had been riding aggressively for the whole weekend in Argentina, and said that he thought the Honda rider was deliberately trying to make his rivals crash.
