NRL player Lachlan Lewis is reportedly being investigated by the organisation over a serious misstep. The news was broken by prominent Channel 9 reporter Danny Weidler on social media on Friday. According to Weidler’s initial tweet, the Bulldogs discovered the misstep within the last 24 hours.
Weidler then a little later on Friday afternoon posted another tweet – this time round revealing that the crime involved the stealing of property belonging to the club and the attempted offloading thereof on commercial online site eBay.
The news regarding Lewis breaks only a day after the NRL imposed a whopping NZ$10k fine on Canterbury star forward Adam Elliot. Elliot last Sunday got booted from a prominent Gold Coast restaurant after being discovered in a compromising position together with NRLW star Millie Boyle. The pair were discovered to be kissing in the restaurant’s men’s bathroom by staff members and subsequently asked to leave the premises.
Not only has Elliott been fined for bringing Canterbury’s good name into dispute, but he’s also been suspended for the remainder of the season and issued with a formal notice of breach.
The latest regarding Lewis is only more bad news for the Bulldogs. Being currently stuck at the very bottom of the season’s points ladder, they’ll be receiving the dreaded Wooden Spoon in two weeks’ time.
The latest will be the club’s 6th Wooden Spoon to date – with others having been awarded in the years 1943, 1944, 1964, 2002 and 2008.
