The Haas Formula 1 team has starting protests against Racing Point Force India ahead of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Both Haas and Force India have been ordered to report to stewards just before the start of the first Abu Dhabi practice runs. There have been no details released about the protest apart from the declaration made by Haas against the two Force India’s.
It is believed that the issue is in relation tot he new Force India entry using the VjM11 design, which was created by the original team. Force India had fallen into administration before the start of the current season, and was ultimately accepted by the FIA as a new entry, and Racing Point Force India has continued to use the VjM11 design throughout the current 2018 season.
Haas and Force India are not in competition for the constructors’ championship title, with Haas currently at 5th place with 90 points, while Force India remains at 7th place with 48 points. The teams have, however, been in dispute from the start of the season, with Force India making their first outcry during the season opener in Australia over apparent links Haas have to Ferrari.
The Haas team has struck back against Force India’s eligibility for the prize money as the team is a new entry owned by a new company. Despite the protests originally started by Haas, it’s been strongly hinted that the dispute would most likely be settled in favour of Force India.
