As the top three F1 drivers prepare for the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has told the two that he very much intends to come first in the race.
It’s a bold claim, especially after the success that Hamilton has found so far in this season. Hamilton, who is currently first on the roster, is just one victory away from earning his fifth Drivers Championship title. Vettel, on the other hand, is desperate to try and topple his opponent, and has become increasingly more erratic as the season has come closer to its end.
Verstappen has told both that although he knows that the Red Bull team has been slower than its rivals, he intends to spoil any celebrations by taking first place before the race is over. He told reporters that they definitely stand a chance of winning, and that he will still try everything possible to take the leading position from the top driver.
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen is also hoping to earn his first win in 113 races with back-to-back victories at the Mexican circuit, but has admitted that there’s no point trying to speculate just who might come out on top. Last year’s Mexican Grand Prix saw Hamilton finish in 9th place, but he still managed to take the world title with just two races left in the season.
Many expect that things will be much the same this time round, but the pressure is on for him to claim his 10th win.
