Rossi Back In The Seat After Injury

Rossi Back to Form

Never has the old saying, “get out there and break a leg!” rung quite so true in the world of MotoGP as currently, with both Valentino Rossi as well as Australian rider Jack Miller having been recently out of action as a result of having fractured legs, both during practice rides.

Rossi broke his leg in August during a practice lap and underwent surgery on September 1st in Ancona, Eastern Italy.  True to Rossi form, the MotoGP champion discharged himself from hospital the very next day.  By September 19th Rossi was back on his bike, doing practice laps at the Misano circuit.

Against all odds, Rossi ended up competing in the Aragon stretch of the championship, finishing in 5th position overall, but not without a good measure of drama, with Dani Pedrosa having slammed the Italian for forcing him (Pedrosa) off the track at 190mph.  The incident took place during the 15th lap  on the main straight as Pedrosa challenged Rossi for 4th place.  Rossi reportedly suddenly moved over to the inside of the track, forcing Pedrosa to squeeze through a narrow gap directly onto the white line and missing Rossi’s handlebar by mere inches.

Rossi was aided during the Aragon race by a secret break built into his Yamaha.  The Italian rider is looking forward to being back to form by the next stretch of the MotoGP racing season set to take place in Japan on October 15th.   Updating his fans on Instagram, the Italian wrote that he was still in pain as result of the fracture to his leg but that he was keeping the hope of a title challenge alive.

Miller Trying To Recover In Time For Australian GP

Rossi isn’t the only rider battling the after-effects of a fractured leg.  Australian rider Jack Miller will be missing out on the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi as a result of a similar affliction.  Miller broke his right leg when he put down his foot in an attempt to prevent a slow-speed crash whilst on a training bike in Andorra earlier this month.

The injury resulted in Miller having had to undergo major surgery in Barcelona last week, with a plate and eight screws having been inserted into his leg to stabilise the fracture.  An intense period of physiotherapy now awaits the Australian, all in preparation of getting him back on track by October 22nd for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Miller currently ranks 12th in the Grand Prix championship.
