F1 Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel has come under fire from officials and fans alike as they call out the many unnecessary risks the German driver has taken during his career so far this season. Vettel, who is currently sitting at second place on the roster behind Lewis Hamilton, has slowly become more desperate as the point gap between the two racers has widened.
Hamilton is one victory away from winning the driver’s world championship title, his fifth one yet, and his consistently win-rate so far has had Vettel scrambling to keep up. Currently, Vettel requires at least three straight wins combined with poor finishes from Hamilton to have a chance at earning the title for himself.
The 31-year-old driver has recently finished fourth at the US Grand Prix, where he started the race with a grid penalty after failing to slow down enough during a red flag period, dropping from second to fifth on the starting grid. He then proceeded to spin out while making his way through the first lap, losing his fifth position, and bumping into Australian Daniel Ricciardo before spinning out.
His Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen managed to beat Hamilton to first place, which has given continued Vettel’s chance of earning the title. He finished up fourth on the circuit after climbing past Valtteri Bottas in the second to last lap. Hamilton, who came in third, is now five points away from winning this year’s title.
