For more than a decade, Fox Sports was Ben Ikin’s home until recently. Ikin has announced his departure from the desk as he moves into a brand-new role: head of football for the Brisbane Broncos. It is hoped that he will help turn things around for the club after two troublesome years.
The announcement has caused quite a sensation and follows the dismissal of former boss Peter Nolan. He has previously been considered for the role of club CEO but lost the position to Dave Donaghy. This is not the first time he will team up with the Brisbane Broncos as he had previously played for the team.
Ikin has been with Fox Sports for the last 10 years, reporting alongside Paul Kent on the NRL 360. HE credits Kent for assisting him in becoming a journalist and guiding him on the path to becoming a fearless storyteller. This will be his last week at the desk before moving over to the Brisbane Broncos and a tribute episode has been planned.
While the Brisbane Broncos have not yet made the official announcement, it is expected to be released this week. Fox Sports is yet to comment on who will replace Ikin, however, they wish him the best on this exciting opportunity and have teased exciting new show developments.
Ikin joins the Broncos with the hopes of making a difference alongside new CEO Dave Donaghy. Together, their shared beliefs and ideas should be just the thing the team needs to get everyone on the same page and the path to success.
