Show County Quality Handicap Betting News

The Show County Quality Handicap for a purse of $150,000 should prove one of the more exciting sprints this Saturday, during the ATC’s annual Mighty And Power Race Day at Royal Randwick. A 1200m Group 3 race for 3-year-olds and older, it attracts a varied field of sprinters, from young up-and-comers to veterans.

The favourite for the 2017 Show County Quality is currently Omei Sword, at $3.80. Her last win was the 1200m G2 Silver Shadow at Randwick a year ago, but she has placed second in two out of three races since then.

The 4-year-old filly may be trainer Chris Waller’s only feasible entry in the $10-million The Everest in October, and since it will also be run at Randwick over 1200m, punters will be keen to see how she handles the distance against a strong field this Saturday.

Daysee Doom, Deploy and Invader Fancied Too

Second favourite for the Show County Quality, at $5.00, is 5-year-old mare Daysee Doom, on a career record of 12: 6-2-1 and earnings of $429,775. She’s trained by Ron Quinton, who will have been encouraged by her win in her last start, the 1400m G3 Dark Jewel Classic at Scone in May.

Deploy, a 5-year-old trained by Gerald Ryan, has had a solid record since his gelding. His career record is 14: 6-5-1, with five wins, one second and a fourth from seven starts in the 2016-17 season. He’s strong over 1200m at Randwick, and his last win was the G2 Moreton Cup over 1200m at Doomben in June.

Deploy is being offered at $6.00 on betting sites for the Show County Quality Handicap, as is Invader. Trainers Peter and Paul Snowden have high hopes for the 3-year-old colt, sired by Snitzel out of Flame Of Sydney. He debuted at Randwick in October last year, running fourth of 11 in the 1000m Newgate Breeders’ Plate.

Since then, Invader has racked up a record of 7: 2-3-0, with his most recent win at the Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400m at Randwick in March. Two weeks later, he managed a second on the same track at the 1600m G1 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes.

There are eight more horses in Saturday’s Show County Quality field, with Alluvion the rank outsider at $81.00. The other seven are being offered at prices ranging from $12.00-$51.00.
