Ahead of the Tour De France, BMC leader Richie Porter has made it known that he intends to go for victory in the event, and his confidence is bolstered by a strong team that will help him see his dream come true.
The Australian rider has a mixed team of powerhouse and climbers in the team that will be accompanying him in the Tour de France that will be taking place over the month of July. The biggest problem that the team is facing at the moment is the first nine days of the tournament, where classic stages consisting of difficult terrain could see the team lose serious ground.
Porte’s current support system will see him surrounded by some of the best flatland riders on the planet as he makes his way through the stage three time trial, the stage nine cobbles, and might be facing some challenging crosswinds.
His team includes: Australian classics specialist Simon Gerrans, Paris-Roubaix winner Greg Van Avermaet, New Zealand time trial expert Patrick Bevin, as well as Swiss duo Stefan Kung and Michael Schar, both of which aim to help Porte through the Alps.
Once Porte has made it through the Alps and Pyrenees, he will be assisted by Tejay an Garderen and Damiano Caruso, who plan to stick with Porte for as long as they possibly can. Porte has told reporters that his BMC team’s make-up has given him further confidence of seeing success.
