Djokovic, one of the best tennis players in the world, who has seen victories in 12 major championships, has been ranked number 1, and has had a successful career in the Grand Slam, says that despite it all, he still suffers from doubt in his abilities.
The doubt stems from his forced leave of the ATP tour due to an elbow injury that saw him unable to carry on any games.
Djokovic first opened up about his doubt after shifting into the third round of the French Open after playing a series of games where he saw both wins and losses. All of his games so far have been against qualifying opponents, and critics agree that his games so far haven’t been as impressive as they once were.
He told reporters that he doesn’t feel like he’s playing at the level he should be, but that he also understand that nothing comes instantly, and the process of reaching a higher rank takes a long time. He continues by saying that he is trying his best not to give up on his career.
At the moment, Djokovic’s seeding is sitting at number 20, which is the lowest its been in over a decade. There’s no doubt that he’s a talented player, but due to the injury, combined with his absences and lack of confidence might see him falling further behind as the French Open continues, but there’s still a chance he might bounce back.
