Broncos club legend Chris Walker has said in so many words that Brisbane coach Anthony Siebold simply isn’t cut from the right stuff required to lead the club. This at a time during which the already embattled coach is trying his best to claw his way back into the good books of fans and players alike – if ever there were in fact such a thing. Brisbane is currently lagging behind in the number 15 spot on the ladder – having won a disgraceful 3 games out of 13 matches played.
Siebold, rumoured to be in a constant state of paranoia over his facing a potential challenger in Kevin Walters, has been desperately battling to hold on to his job for the past month.
A clearly nostalgic Walker has been constantly referring back to the days of Wayne Bennett, proclaiming to every listening ear the praises of a coach who had, according to Walker – and supposedly unlike Siebold – all throughout his coaching mandate protected his team and (especially) his younger players.
The Broncos legend is however no stranger to ending up in the twang over comments freely thrown about regarding his beloved Brisbane. Walker about two weeks ago got involved in quite the mud-slinging fest with current forward Payne Haas and former teammate Petero Civoniceva over criticism directed at Brodie Croft. He later made the entire Croft-thing off as nothing more than his having vented his frustration over yet another club loss.
He hasn’t the least bit of gripe with any of the club’s current players, Walker was later on quoted as saying, but instead, rather with Siebold in his capacity as (their) coach.
