Supercars Driver Lowndes Down On Luck

Lowndes Worse For Wear Ahead Of Gold Coast 600

Despite heading into the worst finish in the last 13 years, Craig Lowndes is adamant about the fact that he is by no means done with the world of Supercars Championship.  Lowndes enters the weekend’s Gold Coast 600 in 7th position on the overall standings.

Lowndes is still way ahead of the rest of the pack as far as the Supercars popularity vote is concerned.  More recently Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen have been moving in on a bit of the fame, but Lowndes seems to still draw a reaction from supporters.

Lowndes is a 3-times Supercars champion but had a really poor start to this year’s show-down, having struggled to even qualify to compete in the event.  He is now more than likely to finish outside of the top 4.  For Lowndes, this will officially mark the worst finish in the Supercars Championship since way back in 2004, when he finished in a very dreary 20th position.

Speaking on behalf of Team Vortex, Lowndes said that the team had not had a podium win so far for the year, but really wanted to rectify this before the end of the season.  The 43 year old seems adamant that he is able to return to his former glory as a celebrated Supercars driver and that his career is by no means over.  Lowndes also said that the problem with this year’s performance, was that the qualifying had not gone as planned.  He said that in his opinion, this was what Team Vortex needed to focus on if any podium standings are to be had before end of season.

With only 3 rounds left in this year’s Supercars Championship, Lowndes and Team Vortex will have to give it all they’ve got if they are to lay a solid foundation and starting point to the 2018 season.

Autobarn Extends Partnership

Whichever way the chips decide to fall on the weekend at Gold Coast, Lowndes certainly seems to have the full backing of car accessories giant Autobarn.  Lowndes’ 888 Holden will be sporting Autobarn title features for the next 2 Supercars seasons.  Lowndes seemed ecstatic at the news, saying that it was wonderful to known that a relationship, which was already 15 years strong, would be continued for the foreseeable future.

Lowndes will be racing in brand new colours as from next year and has said that he was excited to share the new look with his fans.
