Panthers Deny Sex Rumours – Call In Experts

September 25, 2020 by

Professional Australian Rugby League side the Penrith Panthers has now approached a European cybercrime investigations unit to assist in determining the origins of a social media “false sex rumour” – a rumour the side says is now threatening to topple their entire season. The unit just to happens to be the same cybercrime unit that previously assisted former Broncos coach Anthony Siebold and employs the services of a group of ex-military officials with expertise in digital and cyber-criminal investigations.

The rumour, supposedly false, apparently draws in question the integrity of some of the team’s high-profile star players, as well as that of at least two of its members of staff, and relates to a former female member of staff and several sexual relationships alleged to have taken place during her time spent working for the Panthers.

An apparently furious Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher has in the meantime also sought legal advice following his having become aware of the circulation of a scathing text message now doing the rounds. The squad has also confirmed the existence of a police investigation into the origins of both the text message as well as the social media rumour/s.

The club has also confirmed having last month, upon having first become aware of the rumour, brought the matter to the attention of the NRL – this since one of the allegations reportedly relates to a supposed bio-security breach.

Not unlike the Anthony Siebold affair, some Panthers are said to suspect the involvement of a high-profile individual with strong ties to the NRL and to the sport in general.
