Raelene Castle Hopes For Undefeated Wallabies Tour

November 2, 2018 by

Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle has told reporters that an undefeated tour in Europe for the wallabies would be seen as a “pass mark” for the team after a long and difficult season, hoping that the squad could end it on a higher note.

Coach Michael Cheika’s squad are finishing the 2018 season this November with tests against Wales, Italy, and England. The team, who have lost seven of their ten matches so far this year, have moved down to seventh in the world rankings, much to the despair of fans and players alike.

Castle explained that the team is determined to win all of their games during their tour of Europe, and that they were very confident about their upcoming test matches.

Many have called for Cheika’s resignation following the many defeats the team has suffered, but Rugby Australia has backed the 51-year-old coach, and hopes that he can turn the Wallabies’ luck around by the time they head off to next year’s World Cup in Japan.

Their latest match saw them dominated 37-20 by the All Blacks in Yokohama for the last game of the Bledisloe series. It’s the 16th consecutive year that the All Blacks have won the Bledisloe Cup outright, and it’s been cause for further despondence.

Castle’s public statement was made alongside the news that the team would be joining up with the Australian Army, who are set to share facilities as well as leadership and injury management to the Wallabies.
