Wallabies Set To Host All Blacks in Perth

October 12, 2018 by

Rugby Australia is transferring one of the Bledisloe Cup Tests to Perth in the 2019 season, and they hope that the change from traditional venues will being more fortune to the Wallabies, especially against their long-time rivals, the All Blacks.

The All Blacks have held the Bledisloe Cup title since 2003, and once again won this year’s series through victories in the first two matches that were played in Sydney and Auckland. A third match is set to take place in Yokohama, Japan, later on in October.

Rugby Australia announced in a statement that the Western Australian match would be held at the new Perth Stadium, which will be able to hold up to 65000 spectators. It will be the first time that a Bledisloe Cup game will be held in the western state.

The Bledisloe Cup has now become a three-Test series, and it’s expected that next year’s two other matches will take place in either Sydney or Brisbane, as well as in Auckland. In New Zealand, the games will be held in either Wellington or Christchurch. Dates and venues for next year’s events have not been released officially, but there is plenty of speculation from both officials and fans alike.

New Zealand won the Bledisloe event this year for the 47th time, with Australia having earned it 12 times in the past. Test rugby for the countries was first held in 1903, but the Bledisloe Cup was introduced in the 1930s.
