Manchester United are walking a fine line after their recent defeat at the hands of Barcelona, and will need to make another Champions League comeback to retain their chances of staying within the League after the were recently beaten 0-1 by Barcelona.
Barcelona, who were far from putting on their best display – even with superstar Lionel Messi – still managed to secure a win against Manchester United thanks to Luis Suarez. Suarez shot off a far post header that was deflected by Luke Shaw in the 12th minute, and was later confirmed by the video assistant referee after it was given offside at first.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer, the new Manchester United manager, can take some hope away from his team’s endeavour against Barcelona, but opportunities were few and far between, and their best was a header during the first half from Diogo Dalot that he directed off of target, with United ending the game without getting a single shot on target.
Manchester’s players received the applause from the audience in Old Trafford, although it wasn’t directed at their performance but rather at their effort against their opponents.
Barcelona still managed to pose a threat, however, with David de Gear saving from both Philippe Coutinho and Messi. United are now forced to repeat their last 16 against Paris St-Germain in France after they travel to the Nou Camp in the hopes of a semi final spot against either Liverpool or Porto.
