Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, current interim manager of Manchester United has said that their latest win against Chelsea was a massive result as they bounce back from their first loss under Skalsjaer to reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. The team won 2-0 at the Stamford Bridge, just six days after losing to Paris St Germain in the Champions League while playing in Paris.
The defeat was the first for the new manager since he replaced Jose Mourinho during last year December. Talking about the win, he stated that they had received criticism after the PSG game, but everyone had done what they asked. His team won thanks to goals scored during the first half by Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba,, and they managed to prevent their opponents from testing goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
Solskjaer continued by saying that their tactics had worked, and that the team’s performance was fantastic. He added that they had asked their midfielders to press higher and push into the box, and it had ultimately worked, and defending during the second half was fantastic. Manchester United have won a total of 11 of their 13 games so far under the Norwegian, who was given the position of interim manager until the end of the season.
They are currently fourth in the Premier League, having been 11 points behind that position when their former striker was appointed. They are set to take on the Wolves for the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
