Jason Day Hopes to Save the Day

April 4, 2018 by

Jason Day is hopeful that an Australian can win the Augusta National Masters, and so ease the sporting public’s shame and embarrassment over the Cricket Australia ball-tampering rigmarole.

Speaking on Monday, the former World No. 1 acknowledged that the four-man Australian group at Augusta were led down as they witnessed the fallout from the 3rd Test in Cape Town, and humiliated at the sanctions handed out to the discredited trio, Cameron Bancroft, David Warner, and Steve Smith.

Day stated that it was disappointing to see what had happen with the Australian cricket team, and that he didn’t understand what the trio was trying to accomplish with their actions. He added that the game of cricket is the top tier in terms of Australian sports, and that the team had a wonderful reputation that was now irrevocably tarnished.

He ended by acknowledging the fact that most Australians probably felt exactly as he did. He said that people were mightily disappointed with what had unravelled in South Africa, but he remained hopeful that some damage control could come into play and the team could get back some of what they had lost.

With the world of sporting turning its attention to the premier upcoming golfing event, Day, the winner of the 2015 US PGA Championship, has been inspired to give Australian sports fans some good news, and someone to cheer for: a 2nd victory at the Masters to go with the historic triumph in 2013 by Adam Scott.
