Everything You Need To Know – Champion’s Tour Money List 2017
German golfing great Bernhard Langer currently occupies first place on the 2017 Champion’s Tour Money List. This right ahead of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship set to tee off on July 13 at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Baltimore. Langer is also the defending champion of this particular leg of the Tour – not to mention the winner of an additional three other legs of the Tour: Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, Regions Tradition and KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
Langer earned $300,000.00 at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, $345,000.00 at the Regions Tradition and $540,000.00 at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
Langer is just ahead of American Kenny Perry, who occupies 2nd place on the list – currently besting him by $590,281.00.
Next Stop: Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship
Professional golfer Billy Andrade refers to the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship as a big-boy course – implying that a win does not come without a fight. The Championship is one of five major tournaments on the PGA Seniors Tour – with competitors all being older than the age of 50.
Langer will be competing for his fourth consecutive SENIOR PLAYERS Championship victory, having won the Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Last year, Langer finished off strong, sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole.
Langer will in essence also be in the battle for remaining in the Number 1 spot on the 2017 Champion’s Tour Money List.
On Kenny Perry’s Chances
Kenny Perry has only finished first once before during this year’s Champion’s Tour – he walked away victorious from the U.S. Senior Open Championship on July 2nd, after having finished at 16-under and beating Kirk Triplett by a mere two shots.
Langer, on the other hand, holds the Champion’s Tour career record, with nine majors under his belt. It would seem then that Langer remains the favourite to keep on occupying 1st position on the money list – even after the upcoming SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.
Fred Couples – Cause For Concern?
It would be foolish to leave current 3rd position holder Fred Couples out of the serious contender equation. Couples has won both the Chubb Classic as well as the American Family Insurance Championship.
On the other hand, a bad back has been the reason that Couples, 57, has had to take a one year furlough from the game prior to April of this year. That having been said, Couples’ Master’s record is nothing short of exemplary – he shares the record for most executive cuts made with South African great Gary Player.
Couples has also managed to post no less than four top-six finishes so far this year.
