AFL: What’s Happening And Where

August 5, 2017 by

AFL Action at its Best

Manuka Oval will see GWS Giants taking on the Melbourne Demons on August 5.  After a couple of weeks of poor performance, the Giants will be looking to prove that the force of the ball is with them yet.  The Melbourne Demons are expected to be bringing their A-Game against the Giants.

Essendon V Carlton

August 5 will also witness Essendon Bombers going head to head with Carlton – this after Essendon’s dismal attempt at bombing the Western Bulldogs, last weekend.  Essendon is historically known for unleashing the last minute dogs of war and remain the match favourites.

Brisbane Lions Roaring It Up Against Western Bulldogs

Western Bulldogs will be drawing on the confidence of having won a three in a row when going up against Brisbane Lions, on the weekend.  The last three games have seen the Dogs barking it up at an average of 106 points a match.

North Melbourne V Collingwood

The place: Etihad Stadium.  Home to:  North Melbourne.  The Expectation:  the home team will be looking to do home turf proud during the last home-game for the 2017 season.

Fremantle V Gold Coast SUNS

Gold Coast SUNS currently holds 14th position overall, with Fremantle not lagging too far behind in 16th place.  The match promises to be a nail-biting affair, and the chips could fall either way.

St Kilda V West Coast Eagles

Forward Nick Reiwoldt has announced his retirement – and St Kilda will be looking to send the star  off in the best possible way, with one more feather in his already accomplished cap.    Going forward into September hangs in the balance for both teams – with the weekend’s clash determining who gets to go big and who gets to go home.

Richmond V Hawthorne

Every September-bound AFL team will be keeping a close eye on this match.  Hawthorne has managed to miraculously turn an inglorious start to the season around in their favour, but will still have to win all four remaining games in order to stay put.  They will be looking for season security on August 6.

Adelaide Crows V Port Adelaide

The Crows will be heading as favourites into the August 6 showdown – ranking No. 1 in the competition for the number of points scored.  A win for the Crows will secure a firm sprint towards a home field final for the 2017 season.
