The esteemed Australian former boxer Billy Dib, fondly nicknamed The Kid, has joined in the surge of supporters a nine-year-old little boy has seen swoop in to his aid.
Quaden Bayles’ mom recorded a heart-breaking video of her son, who lives with dwarfism, talking about wanting to commit suicide because of how he is being bullied at school. The young man is seen sobbing and asking his mother to pass him a knife so he can kill himself.
While The Kid may now be a former World Champion Boxer nowadays, he knows all too well what being bullied is like, and so he made contact with young Bayles as soon as he saw the distressing footage.
When he did so, he joined the ranks of many other well-known personalities who’ve sent messages of support to Bayles and his mom, including Hugh Jackman, and Dibs ended up chatting to the child via Facetime recently as well.
Dibs reported that the video was that much more upsetting for him because he couldn’t fathom such despair in someone so young. He says he felt compelled to reach out and that he told Bayles that he is looking forward to meeting him and his mother, something which seemed to make them both very happy.
Dibs said that Bayles is learning to live with a serious condition, and he’s disgusted by the fact that people are going out of their way to make it more difficult for him instead of trying to help.
