Jam-Packed Boxing Weekend Ahead

Big Boxing Bouts for the Weekend

According to Ohara Davies, Tom Farrell is nothing more than a bum.  This and other colourful descriptions were hurled to and fro at the final press conference in the run up to the Battle on the Mersey which is set to take place at the ECHO Arena on Saturday, September 30th.  Davies will be challenging Tom Farrell for the WBA International super-lightweight title, and had no qualms putting his potty-mouth on public display.

In turn Farrell referred to Davies’ recent failure to defeat Josh Taylor in July of this year, reminding Davies of his (Farrell’s) own pristine record by comparison. If you want to back one or the other to win, then you can get your wager in online now at Luxbet.

Sean Dodd Vs. Thomas Stalker

Meanwhile in Masher-land, Sean Dodd has been slinging a couple of insults of his own around the room, suggesting that his September 30th opponent could not fight to save his own life.  The two will by vying for the Commonwealth lightweight title – currently around the waist of Sean Dodd.  This will be Dodd’s first defence of the strap, and the fans’ favourite laughed off the fact that Stalker would even try and challenge the title.  Referring to Stalker having been the GB Captain at the 2012 Olympics, Dodd made no secret of the fact that he thought that Stalker had been hinging expectations on a 5 year old success that was now well past its sell by date.

Mairis Briedis Vs Mike Perez

Saturday 30 September also sees the All-Trophy Quarterfinal Clash going down at Arena Riga in Latvia.  Speaking notably more respectfully to and of each other than the previous two duo’s, Briedis said that it was an honour for him as well as for his country to be able to host a tournament and fight of this size.  The Latvians are without a doubt all on board as Briedis and Perez will be standing it off in front of a sold out arena.  Perez too seems ready and eager to fight, saying that he was looking forward to Saturday night, and that it was bound to be an exciting fight.

Paul Butler Vs Stuart Hall

Paul Butler vehemently denied all sparring claims ahead of the rematch with Stuart Hall on September 30th, saying that this time he would ensure that a more convincing victory was secured.  Butler seems very pleased with his pre-fight preparations under new trainer Joe Gallagher, saying that this time round, his training was flawless and that the crowd could expect to see a brilliant Paul Butler at the ECHO Arena on Saturday night.
