With everything that is anything newsworthy in the world of Boxing (and most other sporting events, for that matter) having been overshadowed by the Mayweather / McGregor fight set to take place on August 26, it’s almost refreshing to come across the run-up to an event that is distinctly un-circus-like.

This not for a lack of trying on Adrien Broner’s part.  Broner, known for displaying a Mayweather-like swag of social indifference, prejudice and general bad-boyism,  has even had a number of run-ins with the long arm of the law – again, much like his IRS-swindling counterpart.  Broner has displayed repeated acts of earthiness and outright crudeness, presumably in an attempt to mimic Mayweather’s twisted attempts at self-promotion.

His constant run-ins with the law have at times threatened to signal the end of Broner’s career as a high-profile fighter, causing him to dance to the beat of a more peaceful drum.  Despite still seemingly over-arrogant about his chances of beating Garcia, Broner has taken the hoo-ha and general indecency down by a couple of notches.

Broner said to the press that he had experienced some crazy situations; presumably referring to the after-effects of his law-defying antics, but that he was serious about the fight with Mikey Garcia, set to take place on July 30 in Brooklyn, New York.  Broner also went on to say that both he and Garcia realised the importance of the fight and that a stand-off of this magnitude had the potential of taking both fighters’ careers to the next level.

The men have seven world titles between the two of them.

Garcia Ready Despite Prolonged Absence

Garcia spent a surprising two years away from competitive Boxing as a result of a failure to reach a contractual agreement with his previous promoter, but has made a feisty comeback during two bouts in the run-up to going head to head with Broner on Saturday.  There doesn’t seem to be any sign of ring-lag as a result of being away for such an extended period of time.

Garcia seemed to welcome the fact that Adrien Broner is seemingly well prepared for Saturday’s fight.  Broner, known for his propensity to not take certain fights as serious as he had ought to, has not shown any of the usual signs of indifference in the run up to the match on July 30.    Garcia, a fighter notorious for wanting to give his fans what they paid for, appeared to be relieved that Broner was coming ready and prepared for a victory in Brooklyn.
