England Earns Seven Wicket Win In ODI

October 19, 2018 by

Sri Lanka and England’s latest ODI match came close to midnight before England claimed an otherwise easy victory over the home team, with Eoin Morgan’s team remaining unbeaten so far in the series.

England are now 2-0 up in the five match series, and there are now only two left to play, with England almost ensured victory before the event comes to an end. Match three was met with an almost six hour early finish due to heavy rain that once again plagued the teams, turning it into a game of 21 overs per side, but the shortening of the game did little to give Sri Lanka much of a chance.

England released a statement to the public before the match defending their decision to play the ODI series in the monsoon season, putting most of the blame on the packed schedule that the team is faced with this season. It took some hours before both teams were able to play, with officials fighting the weather to set up their gear.

Morgan once again lead his team with 58 from 49 deliveries, and England proved that they’re able to adapt quickly. The combination of Morgan and Tom Curran proved to be too much for the Sri Lankan Adil Rashid who attempted to take the batsman off guard.

Captain Dinesh Chandimal attempted to anchor the innings but ended up dragging it down, leaving the batting team struggling to make up the lost ground.
