Natwest T20 Heading Towards Knockout

Natwest T20 Blast Round Up

The game that will see Middlesex going up against Sussex will be the last match to be played in London, England, before the Natwest T20 Blast heads towards its quarter final stage.   Sussex, currently in 5th place overall, are the match favourites and are most likely to be walking away victorious.

Hampshire Vs. Glamorgan

Glamorgan will be entering the battle against Hampshire in 1st  place in the South Division and a win will go a long way towards securing a spot in the last eight games of the T20 competition.  They will also be looking to get their own back, after having been defeated by Hampshire in the opening game of the 2017 Natwest T20 Blast.

Yorkshire Vs. Lancashire

Yorkshire and Lancashire will be heading into a sold out clash, and with only two games remaining, a loss for either team could mean the end of the 2017 T20 Blast road.

Difficult times potentially await both squads in equal measure – Yorkshire having lost their last three matches against Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Durham and Lancashire in no position to be casting any stones – having scraped together a measly 1 out of 5.

Nottinghamshire Vs. Birmingham

The Nottingham Outlaws will be welcoming Birmingham Bears to the fight– after having suffered defeat at their claws at Edgbaston.  The match will see the Outlaws trying to qualify for the knockout phase.  Nottinghamshire is currently at the top of the North Group standing.

Northamptonshire Vs. Leicestershire

Northants are currently second in the North Group – this ahead of a home match against Leicestershire.  One cannot help but root for the squad widely considered to be the financial underdogs of the English cricket world.  With the purse strings drawn ever tighter, Northamptonshire are never completely out of the woods – with one or two injuries during a season enough to topple the selection apple cart.

Sussex Vs. Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson’s announcement that all-rounder Thisara Perera has been called back to Sri-Lanka and will miss the stand-off against Sussex as well as the remainder of the Natwest T20 Blast, has been met with shock-meets-unbelief.  Perera took over from Cameron Bancroft, who made an appearance in the initial two group games.  The plan is to reinstate Cameron as Perera’s replacement.

Essex Vs. Middlesex

Friday night will also bear witness to Essex meeting Middlesex at the Cloudfm Country Ground.  Essex may be lurking around the bottom of the South Group ranks, but are still in the running for reaching the quarter final stage.
