Rookie Lauren Coughlin made use of the recent LPGA Tour break in order to have a go at the completion of the Symetra Tour. Coughlin went on to win the PHC Classic, making it the first professional win in her career so far.
The victory has also pushed Coughlin’s rank to No. 417 in the Rolex Rankings. The jump in rankings is a huge leap in her career, and is especially impressive considering the rookie golfer started the season at No. 885 in the world. Her latest victory could catapult her even further this season, and has provided a strong bounce-back for the player, who struggled with her first season on the LPGA Tour, making only three cuts. Coughlin has no returned to the LPGA Tour and is set to play at the Indy Women in Tech Championship.
The Indy Women in Tech Championship is now underway, and will include the final three full-field events for this year, meaning that players will need to try and improve their rankings on the LPGA money list before the season comes to an end. Securing a position in this year’s rankings means qualification for the 2019, but there will also be a two-week Q-series that will be held in October and November. Those attending the Q-Series can earn their card for entry into next year’s season.
Players that finish between 101 and 150 on the LPGA money list will also be qualified for next year’s events.
