The European Tour’s DP World Tour Championships at Jumairah Golf Estate, United Arab Emirates is almost here, and it’s the last game of a season-spanning race to Dubai and the final $8 million reward at the end. Three players from the Ruder Cup in the US are currently leading the pack.
Italian British Open champion Francesco Molinari is in the lead with 4,709,921, followed by English Tommy Fleetwood, who currently sits at 3,684,755. In third place is fellow Englishman Justin Rose at 3,431,616.
There may be more contenders once the South African Nedbank Challenge comes to an end, but the focus for most is on these three. Molinari is still leading with a little over a million points, and the Italian is the favourite to win, especially as he will be closing one of the best seasons he’s ever had in a career that reaches back to 2004. The star, who started out the season 27th in the world rank, has climbed up to 7th place, and is looking to become one of the best current players the golf world has to offer.
Fleetwood, despite his second-place position, is still a favourite for many, and the biggest challenge for lower-ranked players will be a long battle to try and take overtake Fleetwood. Rose, who was propelled to world number one after his many victories at the Turkish Airlines Open, as well as his podium win at the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai.
