Golfer Tiger Woods has posted the first video of him swinging a golf club and hitting balls since his life-threatening car crash in February.
The golfing great captioned the video with “making progress”. In the video, which Woods posted to his official Twitter account, he can be seen wearing a compression sleeve on his right leg. This was the leg badly injured and fractured during the crash.
After the accident called into question whether Woods would eventually be able to return to playing professional golf, the video seems to be a welcome relief for his fans.
Earlier this month, Justin Thomas said he believed the golfing great would at least make an attempt to return to the green. Thomas said during a podcast that while he felt certain Woods would try for a return, he (Thomas) could not see him playing if indeed he wasn’t able to play well.
Woods escaped a citation following February’s crash after Los Angeles country sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed in May that excessive speed had been to blame for the accident, and not the use of drugs and/or alcohol. Villanueva said Woods had appeared to be sober at the scene of the crash.
This will not have been Woods’ first prolonged absence from the game. He was previously forced to take time out after five bouts of surgery on his back. He eventually made a massive comeback and showed himself full of life for the game when he won the 2019 Masters.
