March 19, 2018 by

The world’s Top 64 players as per the Official World Golf Ranking, OWGR, as of Monday, March the 12th, have now been officially cleared to qualify for the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. The competition returns to the Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas, in the USA from the 21st of March through to the 25th.

The tournament also made it known that Phil Mickelson, who collected his 43rd career victory for the PGA Tour with a playoff win at the WGC-Mexico Championship when he last started, has confirmed that he will be participating in this year’s event.

The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play features the game of golf’s biggest stars from all over the world in the one and only head-to-head, match-play format event on the PGA Tour’s schedule. Players have until 17:00 ET on Friday the 16th of March to commit to the field. Players who have not done so by the time of the deadline will be replaced by Nos. 65, 66, etc. until the entire field of 64 is filled.

Sharma the Only Player That Moved

Shubhankar Sharma is the only player that has moved into the Top 64 in world rankings, with this happening over the weekend, when he finished T7 at the Hero Indian OPen. Charles Howell III fell out, and has dropped to No. 66 when he finished T40 at the Valspar Championship.

The Top 4 lead the way, and include defending champion and No.1 Dustin Johnson, No.2 Justin Thomas, No.3 Jon Rahm, and Jordan Spieth at No. 4.
