Harley-Davidson At 2018 Winter X Games

The Winter X Games kicks off in Aspen on January 25th and this year Harley-Davidson Inc. will be hitting the slopes for the very first time ever in the history of the competition.  Harley-Davidson Inc. recently announced that it has partnered with the Winter X Games and will be introducing the new Snow Hill Climb race, a medalled event that will take place towards the end of the games.

The race will take on the format of a drag-style race.  Two riders will go head to head, racing up the flat bottom side of the SuperPipe course.  The motorcycles have undergone a number of customised changes, including widened frames, extended swing-arms and special gearing systems.

Harley-Davidson has gotten involved in a number of new projects over the last year, most of them snow and ice race competitions.  Harley-Davidson Inc. Director of Marketing, Scott Beck, is excited about the Winter X Games, saying that Harley-Davidson riders from all corners of the globe and all walks of life have been experiencing life from the seat of America’s favourite motorcycle for going on 115 years now, and that it was natural for the motorcycle manufacturer to continue to break new ground and blaze trails, only this time it will be done in the ice and in the snow.

Beck also said that Harley-Davidson knew its riders and that they all shared a passion for speed and adrenaline, making the Winter X Games the perfect competition to be involved in.  He said that it was just another way to cultivate a passion for motorcycles and grow the sport of motorcycling.

A Story Behind Every Mile

Harley-Davidson’s involvement in this year’s Winter X Games is no doubt geared at attracting a younger customer base.  The motorcycle manufacturer has also been trying to re-shape people’s pre-conceived ideas and thoughts about motorcycles, which is often out of whack with the true culture of Harley Davidson.  By being involved with the Winter X Games, Harley-Davidson may manage to do just that.

Utilising an existing venue and competition like the Winter X Games’ SuperPipe is also a strategically smart move as the Harley-Davidson race events will take place right after the snowboard/ski-competitors have ended.

Josh Mueller will be riding a modified Sportster and is amped at the prospect, saying that there is a story behind every mile that is completed on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and that he was super excited to be racing his up its very first snow hill climb at the Winter X Games.
